WHISKYTREE offers concept art and design, art direction, digital environment creation, matte painting, and effects supervision and production strategy services. Meet some of the team:

Joe Ceballos was born and raised in the Los Angeles area. He joined Whiskytree in May of 2007, one of the three known as “Batch #1”.

Prior to beginning his formal art education, he worked as a freelance illustrator and drawing and painting instructor. Joe graduated Cum Laude from Art Center College of Design, earning a Bachelor of Fine Arts in Illustration.  

Shortly after graduating from Art Center, he moved to San Francisco to work as a digital matte artist. His film credits include XXX State of the Union, Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire, Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix, The Fast and the Furious Tokyo Drift, Mission Impossible 3, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest and Transformers.

Joe’s clients include MCA/Doggystyle Records, Concept 21, AndLab, and Ted Perez + Associates.  Joe’s fine art has been showcased in various gallery exhibitions in Southern California, and he continues to maintain his skills through privately commissioned work.

 
 

Jonathan Harb opened Whiskytree Inc in May of 2007.

His film credits include Visual Effects Supervisor, Digital Matte Supervisor, Digital Matte Artist, Digital Artist, and Concept and Animatic Artist on films such as Eight Below, the 3 Star Wars prequels, Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl, The Perfect Storm, Artificial Intelligence, and Sleepy Hollow. Harb has contributed to more than 30 feature films, and dozens of commercials for television.

Harb won the first 2 Visual Effects Society (VES) Awards for ‘Best Matte Painting in a Motion Picture’ for his work on Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Star Wars: Episode II; he received a nomination for a third VES award for his work on Star Wars: Episode III. 

In addition to his time as a working artist and supervisor, Harb’s experience includes international location work, client relations, bidding and production strategy, all aspects of management, and business operation functions. He has also spoken at numerous computer graphics events around the world.

Harb graduated Summa Cum Laude in Industrial Design from The College of Design at North Carolina State University.

 

Originally from New York State, Mieke Hutchins attended Purdue University, graduating with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology and Art and Design.

She worked at various design companies and start-ups, such as e-Lab Inc in Chicago, until her move to San Jose in 1998, where she joined eBay Inc. Mieke worked at eBay as a graphic designer and illustrator for several years, working with such clients as Nissan, TBWA/Chiat/Day, Goodby Silverstein & Partners and Disney.

In 2004, she left eBay to pursue her own design business. Along the way Mieke obtained a degree in Animation and Visual Effects from Expression College for Digital Arts, graduating in 2006. She joined Whiskytree in June of 2007.  

 

Joshua Ong returned to the Bay Area and joined Whiskytree in August 2007 after working a year abroad as a lead digital artist in Singapore.

From 1999-2006 he worked in San Francisco as a digital matte artist.

His film credits include: Star Wars: Episodes I and II, Hulk, Peter Pan, XXX: State of the Union, War of the Worlds, Jarhead, Mission Impossible 3, Eragon, The Fast and The Furious: Tokyo Drift, Transformers and Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix.

Joshua was nominated for a VES award in 2004 for "Outstanding Matte Painting in a Motion Picture" for Hulk and won the VES award in 2006 for his digital matte painting contribution in the category: "Outstanding Models and Miniatures in a Motion Picture" for War of the Worlds.

 

A native of Fukuoka, Japan, Susumu Yukuhiro opened the doors with Whiskytree in May of 2007. Previously he spent 8 years working as a digital matte artist and supervisor.

His film credits include the 3 Star Wars prequels, The Mummy Returns, Jurassic Park III, Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets, Terminator 3, and Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl.

As a digital matte supervisor he contributed to numerous films, including Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, XXX: State of the Union, Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest, and Evan Almighty.

Susumu's career began as an assistant artist on projects such as Independence Day, Star Trek: First Contact, A Simple Wish, Titanic, The Truman Show, and Armageddon.

The Visual Effect Society (VES) recognized Susumu in 2003 and 2006 with VES awards for ‘Outstanding Created Environment in a Motion Picture’ for his work on Pirates of The Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl and Pirates of The Caribbean: Dead Man’s Chest.
